1891 census...Aged 5, he was at Angle Common, Soham with his father Turner HOBBS [55] farm labourer; his mother Harriet [53]; brothers Hayoe [28] a bricklayer's labourer, Joel [18] and David [12] both farm labourers; sister Minnie [16] and Dasey [3]. They were all born in Soham.

His father died in 1905.

1911 census...Aged 25 he was at Waterside, Soham with his widowed mother and brothers Hayhoe and David.

The pension card has his mother at Mereside, Soham.

Having died of his wounds at a base hospital and not finding his Army records, it is hard to say exactly when or where Turner was wounded. However the battalion were involved in August 1917 in the 3rd battle of Ypres, in the region of Langemarck. This would be the most likely place.

Turner Hobbs is buried in Calais Southern Cemetery, grave H:5:8
